1. Choose The Right Destination

First things first: agree on a locale. This is your time to sit back, relax and enjoy your time as a couple, so it’s important to choose a babymoon destination that appeals to both you and your partner. Make a date night out of it and share your babymoon ideas over dinner.

If you’re looking for a more affordable babymoon destination, you may want to opt for somewhere domestic. The U.S. offers plenty of scenic beaches, friendly cities, and tropical getaway spots for expectant parents. Don’t be afraid to ask your friends or family for their recommendations when it comes to the best places for a babymoon.

If the thought of planning a trip adds to the mounting stress of preparing for your little one’s arrival, consider a package like an all-inclusive cruise, or booking through a travel company.

2. Check Out the Restrictions

Make sure you check the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) travel advisories. Outbreaks of certain diseases like Zika may affect your babymoon plans if the CDC recommends avoiding certain destinations. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology recommends consulting your doctor before planning any international trips.

Although it’s safe for women without high-risk pregnancies to travel, certain cruise lines and airlines may have restrictions for pregnant women. 3. Think about Timing

Traveling during the second trimester tends to be the most ideal time for expectant moms. Pack layers so that you can adjust your clothes based on the changing temperatures (and hormones) that you may experience on your babymoon getaway. Don’t forget to bring snacks that you’re able to keep down, especially if you’re still dealing with morning sickness. You’ll want to have food on-hand regardless of whether you’re flying, driving or taking to the seas. Bringing a pregnancy pillow might also help keep you comfortable while sleeping in a hotel bed. This trip is about taking time for yourself before you have the baby, so pack whatever you need to feel comfortable away from home and make the most of your babymoon.
