The Best Lightweight Stroller for Travel – Mom Approved!
Delta Children partnered with mommy blogger and lifestyle influencer Amanda Seghetti to compare our Clutch Stroller head-to-head against a different compact travel stroller. This is what she found:
Most moms will agree: One of the most frustrating things about traveling with small children is how to get them from place to place. Do we pack the stroller or not? How difficult will it be to manage a bulky stroller with bags? Will it fit in the rental car? Luckily I’ve found the BEST lightweight stroller for travel to share with you!
Not even kidding. This thing is so amazing, I’ve seen flight attendants get excited about it.
The Clutch Stroller by Delta Children
I bought The Clutch Stroller earlier this year, before my husband and I took our two little ones on a flight. I knew I could wear the baby through the airport, but my 2 year old is getting heavy. Plus we had bags to carry!
The Clutch is such a lightweight stroller that it hardly even added to our load, and was super easy to push through the airport with one hand. It’s compact and foldable, and even comes with its own carrying bag – about the size of my purse.
Seriously, a foldable stroller. It’s genius.
So you can imagine the gate attendant’s surprise when we said, “Oh no, we won’t have to gate check this; it’s a compact folding stroller.” And then their jaw drops while I effortlessly fold it up in seconds and zip it into the carrying case.
It’s almost like performing a magic trick at the airport! I love it.
Clutch vs. GB Pockit
I had heard of the GB Pockit, and wondered how it compared to the Clutch. So I did what any normal mom would do.
I got them both and did a side-by-side comparison. For science, of course.
Here’s what I found:
The Clutch and the Pockit are a similar size. Varying by a few inches here and there, the size difference is pretty negligible. Both fold up pretty compactly. The Pockit weighs in at about 9.5 pounds, while the Clutch is slightly heavier at 11.7 pounds. Again, no big difference.
Both strollers have an overhead canopy to shade baby from the sun. Both have a 5 point safety harness to keep baby secure. But in terms of ease of use, the Clutch Stroller won. I was able to quickly and easily set up the Clutch without any trouble. (I admit it, I didn’t read the directions first – I just set it up easily. You should probably read the directions first though, for safety reasons.) The Pockit seemed a little more clunky and did not set up as easily in my opinion.
Both strollers are described as having a weight limit of 50 pounds, but I’m not sure the Pockit can handle that weight without difficulty (Aren is about 30 pounds now). I also thought the Pockit was a little more difficult to maneuver than the Clutch. The Clutch was easily pushed with one hand, and didn’t give me any trouble with steering. It felt much sturdier than the Pockit, and felt like it was made with more durable materials. You can see in my video that the Pockit appears to be flimsier and wiggles a lot more when pushing it. The Clutch also has a larger storage basket, able to hold more drinks and snacks that my kiddos eventually will ask for.
And it may seem insignificant, but it’s easier to locate the latch in the folded position on the Clutch than on the Pockit. When my husband is trying to figure out how to work the stroller (because he definitely doesn’t read directions), I need the latch to be obvious.
- Even with that, there were 3 main reasons I ultimately chose the Clutch Stroller over the Pockit:
- The Clutch comes with a zippered carrying bag, and the Pockit does not. That’s kinda a big deal.
- I know Delta Children is super focused on safety – going above and beyond with safety standards – and only creates quality products that I trust (half of my kids’ furniture is from Delta Children, including Rowen’s crib).
The Clutch is cheaper! For a lightweight travel stroller that feels safer and easier to use, why would I pay more for another product that I like less??
Not to mention, Delta Children has partnered with me to offer a discount code to all of my readers. You can save 10% on the purchase of a Clutch stroller right now on their site – using discount code amanda10 (and currently the Delta Children website has the lowest price I’ve found online, so don’t miss out!).
If you’re looking for a jogging stroller, the Clutch is definitely not what you want (although Delta Children has some GREAT options for joggers!). But if you are looking for a lightweight, inexpensive, easily foldable stroller to take with you when you travel – that fits into a bag that’s the size of your PURSE – then the Clutch is what you need!
Have you tried the Clutch Stroller yet? Will you be taking it on your next vacation?
